Nunc Dimittis: Gaze is a music video I shot and co-directed for Polycoro choir.
The story of the Nunc Dimittis reflects the moments before, during and after a long period of waiting. The piece is a portrayal of Simeon. He is old, moving with difficulty, but as devoted to his wish as ever. Every day he comes to that spot and waits hoping to see this important thing come to fruition.
This contemplative piece begs the question: how does my distance from the subject relate to my feelings towards his vulnerable gaze? Proximity, distance, emotion and waiting all play a part in this patient and emotional work.
